The petition asking to "Repeal Fire Safe Cigarette Laws" has nearly grown to 21,000 petitioners. Please sign this as this is a violation against your rights whether you smoke or not. If this law is left to stay then what else are we going to lose in the long run. The freedom to breathe? Oh wait this law is taking care of that as well. Many smokers are having a hard time breathing due to the chemical that is used for FSC.

I quit smoking, a month ago today. It has not been an easy task to do after smoking for so long but I have got to think about the long term effects of this chemical. I was forced to quit, it was not my decision to do so and I am extremely upset about this. I do not agree with the governement taking away my right to smoke, I wanted to quit smoking but wanted to do it on my terms not THEIRS! This should have been the people's choice. What opportunity did we have?

To quote a person at the petition site;

"The implementation of FSC cigarettes into use without proper regard to our rights and liberties displays just how far away from democracy we have moved and how we have allowed our government to rule over us, not as the voice of her people, but as a separate and elite force moving at it's own whims and desires. I am well aware that smoking causes a myriad of problems ranging from fires, cancer, and many health concerns, we are all well aware of these things and many of us want to quit, myself included, but we are caught in the grip of heavily taxed, highly addictive substance that has lobbyists swarming to make profit anywhere they can. There is no wisdom in this act of treason. Even American Spirit cigarettes that contain no added ingredients; a cigarette that goes out naturally because potassium nitrate and who knows what else, hasn't been added to help it burn, have fell victim to the FSC scandal. There are reports of many people getting sick; I myself abhor the flavor, aroma, and sensation of smoking FSC's, but it doesn't reduce the addiction. Here is the solution. We as citizens of this country continue to petition as we are doing here. We do not let these issues slip into obscurity. We petition real common sense, that a better, safer cigarette is one without additives and Fire Safety Council regulation, and even though we can agree that smoking is harmful, I think that we would all agree vehemently that the reason cigarettes are so dangerous in the first place is because they have been engineered to do so"

Please stand up for your right, we as Americans deserve to be heard!
